Foundation stone laying ceremony of Colombo Lotus Tower Project

The foundation stone laying ceremony of Colombo Lotus Tower Project is held by the Lake Beira on January 21st, 2012. The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, important officials of Sri Lanka government, the President of CEIEC and the vice President of ALIT attended the ceremony. This is another milestone after the contract signing ceremony on January 3rd, 2012.

Mr. Basil Rajapaksa, the Minister of Economic Development of Sri Lanka, has made a speech on the ceremony, in which he mentioned that it was a dream for both the President and Sri Lanka people to have a TV tower of their own country, and the realization of this dream has excited the whole nation. With sufficient research and verification, the Lotus Tower project will started to construct soon. When it is finished, the Tower will become the new landmark of Colombo. By providing information service for over 20 telecommunications providers and over 50 TV channels and broadcast programs, the Lotus Tower will well improve the economic and social development of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Chen Xu, the president of CEIEC, said in his speech that undertaken the Lotus Power Project is not only the honor but also the challenge of CEIEC. With the support from both China and Sri Lanka, CEIEC has the confidence in completing the project according to the plan and presenting a modern and high-tech TV tower for all the Sri Lanka people.
